AI and AI-Assisted Technologies Use Policy

The policy of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, as the founder of this publication, on the use of AI and AI-assisted technologies is aimed at ensuring the effective and well-reasoned application of AI systems and technologies as a supporting tool in the educational, organizational, and research activities of higher education students and academic staff.

Scientific Bulletin of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs fully adheres to the “Recommendations on the Use of AI in Scholarly Communication” developed by the European Association of Science Editors.

1. The use of AI systems in the preparation of scientific publications includes:

• collection, organization, processing, and analysis of large volumes of data;
• search and analysis of relevant sources and publications related to the research topic;
• preparation of presentations of research results, including the creation of graphical materials (schemes, diagrams, visual elements);
• formatting and systematization of bibliographic references;
• analysis of novelty, similarities, and differences in scientific results (provisions, hypotheses, concepts, models);
• checking scientific publications for plagiarism;
• other methods of applying AI systems that correspond to the specifics of the research and do not violate the principles of research ethics and academic integrity.

2. The use of AI systems in research activities should primarily facilitate relieving researchers from routine operations in order to provide more time for performing complex and creative research tasks.

3. When using AI for scientific purposes, efforts should be made to maximize the benefits of these technologies while simultaneously preventing potential risks and threats or minimizing their impact.

4. Research results generated with the assistance of AI systems must undergo thorough verification and include appropriate referencing.

5. AI systems cannot be recognized as authors or co-authors of scientific publications. Responsibility for the reliability, scientific novelty, and correctness of the research results lies with the author.

6. The use of AI systems for creating fictitious sources, falsifying research results, or generating non-existent experimental data is strictly prohibited.

7. When preparing a scientific publication, the fact of using AI systems must be explicitly disclosed. In particular, the prompt used to generate the response should be provided, clearly indicating which parts of the publication were created with the use of AI, specifying fragments used without modification or further edited, and providing a detailed description of the nature of AI use in the preparation of the scientific article at the beginning or the end of the publication.

8. When labeling content (images, text, graphs, diagrams, etc.) generated with the use of AI systems, an appropriate reference should be provided in the form of a footnote or note indicating the developer or provider, the name of the AI system, its version, and the date of generation (for example: OpenAI, ChatGPT, date: 16.02.2026).

9. If AI tools are used to develop research questions, summarize results, or process and interpret data, the introduction of the publication should separately explain the nature and extent of such use, specifying how exactly these tools influenced the preparation of the research.

10. If AI tools are used in the creation of a scientific publication, the author must include a separate section in the bibliography titled “Artificial Intelligence Tools”, listing the systems used. This list must indicate the developer or provider, the name of the AI system, its version, and the date of use (for example: OpenAI, ChatGPT-4, date of use: 16.02.2026).

11. The absence of a reference to a work or part of a work created with the assistance of an AI system, as well as the failure to provide information in the bibliography of the scientific article regarding the use of AI, may be considered a manifestation of academic misconduct and may result in the return of the submitted manuscript to the author(s) for revision after preliminary review or its rejection after resubmission following plagiarism detection or peer review.
