EXPERIENCE OF FOREIGN COUNTRIES OF COMBATING AND PREVENTING VIOLENCE (ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE UNITED STATES)

Abstract

The presented study analyzes foreign experience in combating and preventing violence, as well as legal regulation of this area using the example of the USA.Different types of violence are considered, such as: gender-based violence, domestic violence and violence against women. It is emphasized that these terms convey similar concepts and are often used as synonyms, however, there are a number of important differences between them.Given the experience of the USA in combating violence, it is emphasized that the effectiveness of such activities depends on a holistic approach that combines legislative initiatives, support for victims, rehabilitation of perpetrators and active participation of civil society.It is noted that, taking into account foreign experience, Ukraine should expand legal opportunities for victims of violence (for example, simplify the procedure for obtaining court orders prohibiting contact); ensure the strengthening of the role of the judicial and law enforcement systems, in particular, create specialized judicial institutions to consider cases of domestic violence; develop rehabilitation initiatives for perpetrators, involve psychologists and social workers in working with them.
